Beat Navy!).  We discussed potential joint socials (sports activities) and liaison officer opportunities to help service academy candidates and appointees. We had a great summer (2005) with the Operation Air Force cadets who came to visit Offutt.  Time flies as we saw cadets with 08 in their class year.  Interesting stories on what is happening now at USAFA and the cadets also enjoyed hearing the old stories. Some misdirection with the USAFA vs Navy game on 8 Oct 05.  It was an omen of things to come with the game.  It was fun being out among the grads.  The first place to meet said they couldn't get the game on their satellite.  We went to an alternate location.  Sorry if anyone following missed the game and gathering.  We had a couple of Navy guys in the audience.  It was fun as USAFA led by 10, but in the last few minutes of the 4th quarter, Navy came back and won by a field goal. 2006 We gathered for an evening of fun on Thursday, 16 Mar 06, to watch 1st round NCAA basketball where USAFA took on Illinois.  Close game at some points, USAFA had a lead for a short time, USAFA within a couple of points at various times, but Illinois won in the end 78-69. MajGen Lempke (USAFA 69) officiated at the promotion ceremony for Col Steve Olson (USMA 83) at the Nebraska guard unit in Lincoln on 6 May 06. An excellent 1st Group Ops (Summer 2006) AF social at Maj Lindemuth's (USAFA 94) home the evening of 8 Jun 06: 17 cadets, 9 grads, 9 family members, and 2 dogs. 2nd Group Ops (Summer 2006) AF social hosted by Dave Webster (USAFA 80) went well the evening of 29 Jun 06.  The master cook, Dave Webster, hosted at the Lakewood Villages Pavillion.  The cadets made use of the playground equipment. 3rd Group Ops (Summer 2006) AF social social hosted by Kristi Cummings (USAFA 96) went well even with the 105 F temperature (we got to be indoors with AC).  Kristi's husband manned the grill.  Small group of cadets (9 total) and with the setting being indoors, smaller environment, the entire group was more social with each other and got to share more stories old and new. A great time at Indigo Joe's gathering with about 20 people for USAFA vs Tennessee in spite of a tough loss (31-30) when USAFA wasn't able to make a 2-point conversion with 1 minute 30 seconds left in the game.  USAFA led in the 1st quarter 7-3.  By the 4th quarter, it was Tennessee 31-17.  With 3 minutes to go, USAFA came back to being just one point behind 31-30.  With 1.5 minutes left, USAFA being one point behind Tennessee and can either go for a tie or a win.  USAFA went for a 2-point conversion and stopped. An excellent USAFA vs. Creighton soccer game on 23 Sep 06.  About 15 people for the tailgate.  USAFA won, 1 - 0, about 30 seconds into 2nd overtime. A fun time at the annual members meeting for grads and family on 3 Nov 06.  We saw USAFA beat USMA 43 - 6 at Indigo Joes.  Col Ed Hunt led a rendition of the 1st verse of the USAF song.  MajGen Roger Lempke (USAFA 69) named Midlander of the Year (2006). 2007 Ed Yong and daughter (Amanda) were the only ones in the crowd to root for USAFA when the University of Nebraska (Lincoln) hosted a gymnastics meet. An excellent 1st and 2nd Group Ops (Summer 2007) AF social at the Offutt AFB base lake. 3rd Group Ops (Summer 2007) AF social social hosted by Dave Webster (USAFA 80) went well even with a hot day.  Dave's new home is a historic home that had some good shade. 2008 Drew Miller hosted the Feb 2008 Grad lunch on 26 Feb 08 to present his experiences in Iraq.  A very informative lunch meeting. 2009 BrigGens (Maj Gens Sel) Susan Helms and Suzanne Vautrinot had a joint party of which many grads showed their support for these two Generals.  It was also noted that the USAFA Drum and Bugle Corps must have been a great organization in producing many generals. BrigGen (Maj Gen Sel) Susan Helms presented a very informative seminar on life as an astronaut for the June 2009 lunch social at the Patriot Club.   To date, it was the Chapter's largest lunch social. 3 Aug 09: We got to see the promotion of Maj Gen Susan Helms at the Patriot Club.  Many friends and family were there to support her.  Gen Kevin Chilton hosted the ceremony.  Much of Maj Gen Susan Helms' organization was on hand.  Very nice ceremony. 27 Oct 09: Larry Ortega gave an interesting presentation on peak oil.  We got to hear about energy (focus on oil) and how it may affect us. 7 Nov 09: All members' meeeting at Indigo Joe's to watch USAFA vs. USMA.  Final score of 35 - 7.  Army held Air Force to single digit offense yards in the first half with a score of 7 - 7.  Air Force came alive in the second half. 2010 27 Apr 10: TAD Draper arranged for the Parents' Club, family, friends, and grads to see USAFA take on Creighton in a double header baseball game.  USAFA won both games.  I'm sorry, I don't have the final scores to post.  The second game was a come from behind victory.  There was a tailgate before the game.  This was in lieu of the 4th Tuesday lunch social at a Bellevue area restaurant.  Although a Tuesday afternoon, there was a pretty good showing for that kind of time slot. 2 Oct 10: USAFA vs USNA football social at Buffalo Wild Wings, Papillion NE.  A somber moment to remember our friend and mentor, TAD Draper, to sing the 3rd verse of the Air Force song.  Final score of 14 - 6.  A close game to the end.  USNA gave a good fight, but USAFA prevailed in Part 1 of getting the CIC Trophy.  Now for Part 2 to beat USMA to reclaim the CIC Trophy. 6 Nov 10: USAFA vs USMA football social at Buffalo Wild Wings, Papillion NE.  We got the CIC Trophy back!  Final score of 42 - 22. 2011 4 June 2011: Jacque Torson arranged for the 1st Ops AF group cookout.  She co-hosted with the base CGOC and had a really good gathering at the Base Lake.  The weather turned out mild.  It was not too hot.  There was just enough breeze to keep the bugs off the food and people.  See the 2011 pictures. 26 June 2011: The 2nd Ops AF group cookout held on Offutt AFB's parade grounds.  It was another co-host wit the base CGOC.  Jacque Torson did a wonderful job arranging the event. 23 August 2011: Lunch social at the Patriot Club.  Maj Gen Susan Y. Desjardins spoke about her experiences as Commandant of Cadets at USAFA.  Some really funny stories about the ingenuity of cadets. 27 Sep 2011: Lunch social at the Patriot Club.  Maj Gen Gregory A. Biscone spoke about his experiences and gave us some leadership lessons he learned over the years. 2012 6 April 2012: Founders Day social.  The regular photographer forgot to bring a camera.  If you missed it, you missed a Founders Day social at the Patriot Club. 10 April 2012: Capt Jacque Torson presented Philip Sweet the TAD Draper Leader of Character Award at Papillion La Vista High School. 25 April 2012: Capt Jacque Torson presented Alex Nguyen the TAD Draper Leader of Character Award at Bellevue East High School. 30 April 2012: Capt Jacque Torson presented Kyle Hefner the TAD Draper Leader of Character Award at Bellevue West High School. 22 September 2012: USAFA Rugby came to play at the Storz Rugby Complex.  USAFA won 57 - 28. 6 October 2012: USAFA vs USNA lunch social at NE Brewing Company.  Unfortunately, USAFA lost in OT 28 - 21.  USAFA missed a FG and fumbled three times in the red zone in the first half. 3 November 2012: USAFA vs USMA lunch social at NE Brewing Company.  Unfortunately, USAFA lost 41 - 21.  USAFA fumbled a number of times that USMA turned into points. 8 December 2012: USMA vs USNA lunch social at Old Mattess Factory.  Close game and USNA won.  A couple of us USAFA people went to mingle. 2013 2 April 2013: Founders Day social.  Fun by all.  See photos in the photo section. 24 April 2013: Roy Kessell presented Connor Ullom the TAD Draper Leader of Character Award at Bellevue East High School. 30 April 2013: Jeff Blank presented Robyn Wells the TAD Draper Leader of Character Award at Papillion La Vista High School. May 2013: Roy Kessell presented Alex Deter the TAD Draper Leader of Character Award at Bellevue West High School. June - August 2013: We hosted three groups of USAFA Ops AF cadets.  Roy Kessell and Larry Ortega provided wonderful tours at the Strategic Air and Space Museum.  They brought he exhibits to life with their experiences.  Dave Webster provided a wonderful place for a cookout at his home overlooking Council Bluffs. 11 December 2013: We welcomed the USAFA women's basketball team to the area to play UNO.  We had a dinner social with them the night before the game.  We went to see the game and led some cheers.  Bob Cook led the 70's vintage cheer (Slash them with the beak).  Ed Yong led the 80's vintage cheer (USAFA fight fight fight), Jacque Torson led an 80's vintage cheer (Hey Rah) and a newer one.  We all did the Air Force song.  But, it wasn't enough.  UNO won 77 - 54. 2014 26 March 2014: Founders Day social.  Fun by all.  See photos in the photo section.  We had our main AOG executive VP, Gary Howe (USAFA 69), come out to speak with us. March 2014: USAFA baseball vs UNO at Boy's Town field.  Perhaps, next year. June - July 2014: Roy Kessell set up tours athe Strategic Air and Space Museum for the Ops AF cadets. 2015 22 April 2015: Founders Day social.  Fun by all.  See photos in the photo section.  We had Lt Gen (ret) Roger Lempke (USAFA 69), come out to speak with us. 24 March 2015: USAFA baseball vs Creighton.  One game cancelled due to weather.  Game two seemed like it made up for it by going 14 innings.  Perhaps, next year. 2016 21 April 2016: Founders Day dinner social at Lo Sole Mio (3001 S 32nd Ave, Omaha, NE 68105) 1830 start. It was a good dinner with fellowship. 26 April 2016: USAFA vs UNO in baseball at Werner Park. 27 April 2016: USAFA vs Creighton in baseball at TD Ameritrade Park. The parents’ club arranged an Appointee late lunch or early dinner at Swanson Park, Sunday, 19 June 2016 (Fathers’ Day). USAFA men's soccer comes to town on 23 September 2016 to play against UNO.
