Heartland-Lemay Chapter

14 Dec 10
We had a good gathering on Tuesday at
China Road and held our annual members meeting. This annual
meeting was held in conjunction with our monthly lunch
social. Meeting start at 1130.
In attendance were:
Maj Gen Don Ralph '80
Jon Stevens '71
Jacque Torson '06
Bill Torson '06
Sean Martin '96
Bill Price '73
Rhet Turnbull '95
Dave Webster '80
A motion was made & seconded to vote
for the office of Vice President. All present voted for
Jacque to continue as VP. A motion was made & seconded to
vote for the office of Secretary. All present voted for Ed
Yong to continue as Secretary.
Jacque showed off her t-shirt design. I
think we should now explore how much it would cost to get
t-shirts printed and poll the members for interest. I
recapped some of the things we'd done this year as a chapter
and mentioned the upcoming All Academy Ball. I also
mentioned that the Chapter had made a donation for the Ball.
The Ball is on 26 Dec 10 in the Patriot Club.
Jon Stevens asked that we continue to
pass along any news on USAFA sporting events in the local
area as well as any USAFA events that will be televised.
Meeting adjourned at 1230.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Chapter Officials’ Meeting
28 Sep 10
Due to circumstances beyond control,
quarterly meetings for 2010 were put on back burner.
We had virtual meetings through e-mail communications.
The first in-person quarterly meeting was on 28 Sep 10.
Present for the meeting:
President: Rhet
Turnbull
Treasurer: Jeff Blank
Liaison to Liaison Officers: TAD Draper
Secretary: Ed Yong
Location:
Siam Cuisine
Agenda: Quarterly Meeting
Meeting Called to Order: 1130
Old Business: No old business.
New Business:
1. Discussion on the All Service Academies group in LinkedIn. The group is making an all service academies
site that is similar to LinkedIn that is for any academy grad. The site would be tied in with the various
service academy grad group databases to verify grads so that not anybody can just come in and abuse the system.
The site has many benefits with communications - job postings among grads, information among grads, help track
local chapter activities, etc. The beta testing soon and we are welcome to participate.
2. TAD checking with the ALOs on a potential chapter Leader of character award for a high school in Kearney.
The chapter Leader of Character award helps provide that extra visibility of service academies to potential
candidates where the ALOs are interested in it as a vehicle in helping recruitment. (Ed Yong will carry on
for TAD until a new Chapter LO for the ALOs is confirmed).
3. Our present President, Rhet Turnbull, will be PCSing next summer. Any prospective candidates for President
of our local AOG chapter please begin prepping.
4. The All Academies Ball will be 26 Dec 10 in the Patriot Club. This year is hosted by the parents club of
USAFA cadets.
5. USAFA football. This week is USAFA vs. USNA. Chapter
will hold a social at Buffalo Wild Wings in Papillion (near
Hwy 370 and 72nd in Shadow Lake). Kick off time is 1330 on
Saturday, 2 Oct 10. (Nice turnout. See the
photos for 2010. USAFA 14 Navy 6). Meeting adjourned:
1230
Note: It is with great sorrow
that this was TAD's last Chapter meeting. TAD passed
away later the same evening from a heart attack.
Here's a toast to the host...
