Agenda: Annual Members Meeting and Elections

Meeting Called to Order: 2032

 Old Business:  N/A

 New Business:

- President’s Report:

-- We hosted one Ops Air Force sessions this summer with over 20 cadets in attendance at Dave Webster’s house.  This is our main expense each year.

-- Leader of Character Award.  We awarded the “USAF Academy Heartland-LeMay Chapter Award for Outstanding Leader of Character” to Gina Mancuso, a junior at Papillion-La Vista High School.  We are looking to sponsor a second high school this year.  Dave Webster will contact Abraham Lincoln High School in Council Bluffs and Bellevue East High School to see if they are interested in participating in this program.   We hope to continue to support recruitment for the Academy as well bolster the interest of students in the Academy.

-- We talked about moving the annual meeting to get more participation.  We only had four voting members and their families at this year’s meeting.  Possible options are to coincide the annual meeting with a football game in October or with our hosting of the Ops Air Force cadets.  This will be brought to the attention of the organization in Jan 09, when we resume our monthly meetings.

- Treasurer’s Report:

- Reviewed financial status of the chapter.  Savings balance of $337.00 and checking balance of $189.71.   We have 15 paid members so far for 2009.  2009 dues continue to be collected, and they are $10.00.  Major expenses for last year were for establishing our awards program ($129.75 for the plaque) and hosting the ops Air Force cadets ($190.55)

- Elections:  Two year terms for Vice President and Secretary are being considered this year.

-- One nomination for Vice President:  Nick Kozdras

-- One nomination for Secretary:  Ed Yong

-- Both members were unanimously voted in to their positions.

 Next Meeting Time/Location

- Jan 09.  Fourth Tuesday.  Monthly luncheon.  Place to be announced.

 Meeting adjourned: 2050

2008
Board of Directors Meeting Minutes

Minutes of the Heartland-LeMay AOG Chapter Officials Meeting

The meeting convened at 0730 on Saturday, 31 May 208.
Attending:
Tad Draper, President;
Dave Webster, Vice President
Francis Doiron, Secretary and Treasurer (arrived late)
Ed Yong, Admissions Liaison Officers Liaison

Old Business:
Francis provided the 30 May treasurer's report to TAD prior to the meeting.
In summary:  the Chapter has $150.26 in checking and $336.37 in Savings.
The major source of income was dues and a donation by Ed Yong.
The paid membership thus far for 2008 is 26 graduates.
The major expenditures related to purchase of the Leader of Character award
(plaque and coins) that was presented to Gina Mancuso of Papillion LaVista
High School.
Another expense was for pizza's in conjunction with Drew Miller's
presentation of information about an assessment visit to Iraq at his house
in February.
As there is only one Ops AF session at Offutt AFB this summer, funds should
be sufficient to cover costs of the social event.

New business:
1. Support to Ops AF.  TAD is engaged with the base Project Officer, Maj
(Chaplain) Jerry Sather, to have a social event on Tuesday, 15 July included
in the schedule and to resolve whether travel restrictions will prevent it
from being at Dave Webster's house.  As mentioned, we have sufficient funds
to cover the cost of the social.  TAD also suggested that the proposed
presentation by Ted Huscher on WWI Austrian Ace Joszef Kiss, be done during
an evening while the Cadets are here to maximize participation.  (Ted really
prefers an evening presentation. Feedback from a few grads about interest
was mostly for a lunch-hour presentation.)

2 Outreach Activities for the Grad group:
a. Roger Lempke has offered to host a group visit to the veterans' museum in
Lincoln; a chance to engage the grad cluster there.  No decision yet
b.  Nick Kozdras suggested a group trip to Iowa's fabled vinyards.  (He
subsequently offered to be trip captain for a visit to Kings Crossing on
Saturday 28 June.  This was broadcast.)
c. Support to the ALOs during the Offutt Open House 16-17 Aug - or just
having a grad's picnic one of the days.
d. Getting a special tour of the new AFWA building this fall  - or just
promoting the open house. (TAD has had some dialog with Pete Knox.  This
looks like an activity for the October time-frame.)

3.  We decided to add a second school to the LeMay Leader of
character award program and continue with Papio. Input from the ALOs is
needed.

Meeting was adjourned about 0830.
