The Academy Spirit had a brief item on the Basics watching the 4th of July fireworks (page 15) and a photo of parents watching the swearing-in on the front page.

I went up to see a few Cobras in the Finance briefing.  Unfortunately, it was held in the H1 lecture hall and was already darkened for the Powerpoint briefing.  I took some photos and lightened them up in the gallery below.

As an aside, the odd Basic of the day was Basic Cadet Bordenave.  He stopped me and asked me to take his picture because, "I haven't written my mother and I want her to know I'm alive".  He's in one of the photos below.

I caught some of Squadron B, Flight A waiting in line at the Dental Clinic.  They were getting folders, so it looked like they were creating dental records.  I put their photos in the gallery below. 

Now, I apologize in advance for this comment.   I started editing this picture and my subconscious mind said a good comment as he looks at his classmates would be, "Mmmm, boy am I hungry", or "Get in me belly!" as was quoted in Austin Powers 2.

Parents of Executioners.  I saw some of your cadets in line at Clothing Issue.  I snapped photos in two locations.  First, some were getting running shoes.  In another area, they seemed to be ordering hats, gloves, etc.  That's why you see them in PT gear.

Looking ahead to Saturday.  Many of you know Field Day in this coming Saturday, the 15th.  This is where the Basics run around taking part in competitions - squadron vs. squadron.  There is tug of war, relays, etc. 

Last year, it ran from 0800 - 1200.  This year, the tentative calendar I have in front of me lists it as running in the afternoon.  When I get confirmation from the staff, I'll let you know.
