My Predecessor’s Parting Shot at HQ 7th Air Force

General Meyer was prone to asking questions that were impossible to answer. During his last briefing, the Lieutenant who had trained me during his last week on duty indicated that a Wild Weasel aircraft had locked on a signal and fired a Shrike missile. The signal went down, but then soon came back on again. General Meyer asked what had happened to the missile. The briefer calmly answered: “General, I have no fucking idea!”
