Gone But Not Forgotten


SmithHJSm.jpg Captain H. James Smith, United States Air Force Academy Class of 1964, was killed in a military aircraft accident near Eglin AFB, FL on 27 October 1971. He was flying the OV-10 aircraft as an instructor pilot. His aircraft crashed on final approach during a simulated single engine landing.

Captain Smith was survived by his wife, Virginia, and two children, Jeffrey and Katherine, of 13 Jacqueline Drive, Hockessin, DE; and by his parents, Mr. and RD. 1, Middletown, DE. Funeral services were held on 1 November 1971 at the Gracelawn Memorial Park, Wilmington, DE.
