Gone But Not Forgotten


RisherSmall.jpg Captain David H. Risher, United States Air Force Academy Class of 1964, died on 4 September 1968 in a C-130 brought down by hostile gunfire in Lam Dong Province, South Vietnam. He was buried at Arlington National Cemetery, VA.

Dave reported to the Academy from Washington, DC as the youngest man in the Class of 1964. While at the Academy, he was a member of the 10th Cadet Squadron.

Upon graduation, Dave was assigned to Undergraduate Pilot Training at Moody AFB, GA. In 1965, he was a C-130 pilot in the 61st Troop Carrier Squadron, Sewart AFB, TN. He was assigned to the 345 Tactical Airlift Squadron in South Vietnam at the time of the crash.
