Don ’s History


Gone But Not Forgotten


PalkySm.jpg Captain Donald L. Palky, United States Air Force Academy Class of 1964, passed away on 6 July 2014 at Encinitas, CA at the age of 71.

Don reported to the Academy from Dorchester, NE. While at the Academy, he was a member of the 23rd Cadet Squadron.

In 1965, he was in Undergraduate Pilot Training at Webb AFB, TX. From 1966 through 1968, he served as an F-4 pilot at the 10th Tactical Fighter Squadron at Hahn AB, Germany. From 1968 to 1972, he was at Norton AFB, CA, working for SAMSO as a Minuteman Research and Development officer. In 1972 he was assigned to the Agena Program where he served as Launch Vehicle Manager in the Space Shuttle Program Office.

Don resigned his Air Force commission in 1976. After his separation, Don worked as a systems analyst for the Navy based at San Diego.

He leaves to mourn him: brother, John (Kathy) of Dorchester; nephew, David (Belinda) Palky and family of Ohio; nephew, Gary (Vickie) Palky and family of Dorchester; cousins, Jimmy (Dona) Heeren of Dorchester, Jean (Bob) Muckel and Mary McComas of Crete and their families.

Mr. Palky was cremated and will be inurned at the USAFA Cemetery on 6 Aug 2014 at 1100 hrs.
