Bob's History
Lieutenant Colonel Robert Levins, III, USAFA Class of 1964, reported to the Academy on 27 June 1960 from the State of New Jersey. While at the Academy, "Rolo" was a member of the 20th Cadet Squadron , where he served as Cadet Operations Officer his Firstclass year.
Following Graduation, Rolo attended Undergraduate Pilot Training at Craig AFB, AL. In 1965, he was a pilot with the 29th Air Transport Squadron at McGuire AFB, NJ. In 1967 and 1968, he served a combat tour of duty as a pilot with the 37th Air Rescue and Recovery Squadron, DaNang AB, Vietnam. In 1968, he returned to the states as a pilot at Dover AFB, DE. From 1971-1974, Bob was a pilot with Hq AR&RS at MAC MET at Scott AFB, IL. In 1975, he was a student at Troy University. Later, he served as UH-1 Pilot and Commander, Det 8, 37 AR&RSq Vandenberg AFB, CA. From 1981 to 1983:he was American Advisor to the Royal Air Force, 8th RAF Staff College Brackneu, England. From 1983 to 1988, he was Chief of Tactical Manpower Requirements and later Chief of Maintenance & Operations of the National Guard Bureau at Hq USAF, the Pentagon. In 1988, he was reassigned to Andrews AFB, MD, where he served as Chief on Manpower Requirements until his retirement on 30 November 1991.
Following a distinguished military career, Bob served as a Project Manager with TASC in Arlington, VA and also as a Consultant to the Northrop Grumman Corporation.
Bob is a recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross, 4 Meritorious Service Medals, 7 Air Medals and 3 Air Force Commendation Medals.
He holds MS in Personnel from Troy State University and diplomas from Air Command and Staff College and Squadron Officer's School.
