Gone But Not ForgottenGary Yates Dickinson was born in San Antonio, Texas on November 3, 1940 and passed away on February 2, 2024. He grew up in Del Rio, Texas. He attended The University of Texas for two years before being accepted into the United States Air Force Academy where he graduated in 1964. Following his USAFA graduation he entered pilot training at Reese Air Force Base in Lubbock, Texas where he graduated third in his class. He was then assigned to Reese AFB where he was a T-38 instructor. Following his Air Force tour of duty, he entered the civilian world as a Petroleum Engineer with Humble Oil Company, known today as Exxon. He later moved on from Exxon to become Production Vice-President with Triad Energy in Houston, Texas. He worked as an Oil and Gas Consultant with Getty Oil up until two weeks before his death. He is survived by his wife Diane, son, Regan, daughter, Christine, and five grandchildren, all of whom he adored. He was an amateur astronomer and delighted looking through his 8-inch telescope and showing his children, grandchildren, and his friends, the wonders of the universe. Gary will always be remembered as an honorable boss and co-worker. He treated all who he encountered with kindness and respect, no matter their station in life. He was a mentor, guide and loving grandfather. His absence leaves a hole in his grandchildren's lives, as it does in his children's and friend's lives. Gary was always proud to be a USAFA grad, and honored to be a USAF T-38 pilot. Condolences may be sent to Diane Dickinson
