The AOG has a ring return program. They keep one copy of every class ring in a display case in Doolittle Hall.  The copy is the most original looking one they receive.  (If they are sent a ring that is in better shape than the one on display, they replace the displayed ring.)  All other rings are sent to the ring producer for the next graduating class (usually Jostens) and they are melted down to be used to produce the rings for the next class to receive rings.
