Rev 2- Feb 20, 2010
General Info
n First week in May 2010, 3rd thru the 6th. Arriving Monday.
n Golf on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
n Touring in Savannah itself any time. Lots to do there. See the paper on “Things to Do”. Historic Savannah is about 10 miles
n Staying on SW side of Savannah at intersection of I-95 and 204. Exit 94. See Map #1
n Lots of restaurants within ¼ mile plus an outlet mall
n Let me know if you are planning to come. You make your own individual reservations. I’ll keep a list and send it out so you know who else is coming.
Lodging
n At the Intersection of I-95 and Hwy 204, exit 94. See Map #2
n I have $69 group rate at the Hampton Inn. Code “AFA”. The $69 rate lasts until April 5th, so register now.
n Telephone: 912-921-1515
n Web Address: www.savannah95southgatesuites.hampton.com
n Exercise Room, Complimentary Breakfast, and a Hospitality Room near the lobby area.
n The lodging area is on the SW side of Savannah. Close to the golf courses and about a 20 minute drive into downtown Savannah. See the “Things to Do” paper for folks who aren’t interested in playing golf.
Golf
n There are 4 or 5 commercial courses within about 15 miles of where we’re staying.
n Weekday rates are all pretty similar – in the $35-$40 range.
n Have talked to all the pros and we can get block tees times in the 1000 timeframe
n We can have lunch added at a group rate but I’d need to know if folks wanted to do that or just do their own thing either at the course or elsewhere.
My personal preferences
n Black Creek. www.blackcreekgolfclub.com/ Short, sort of quirky, but challenging. Play it Tuesday.
n Crosswinds. www.crosswindsgolfclub.com/ Near the airport. Longer, windswept.
Play it Wednesday
n Southbridge. www.southbridgegolfclub.com/ Pretty good. Tough from the back tees. Play it Thursday
Hunter AAF is not far (5+ miles) and Ft Stewart (20 miles). OK, typical military courses, not too hard
