Captain William "Steve" Bishop, born February 9, 1935, passed away in Longmont, Colorado on April 25th at the age of 80. He is survived by his loving wife Roberta Bishop of Boulder, Colorado and also survived by many wonderful children, grandchildren and great grandchildren spread all over the country.

Steve graduated with the second graduating class in 1960 from the Air Force Academy. He then was in the Air Force from 1960 until he completed his service at the rank of Captain in 1965. He then went to CU Law School for two years and kept watching the planes fly over head, realizing that Law was not for him and flying was.

He started flying with United Airlines on national and international routes and did so for over 30 years until he retired with the rank of Captain. During this time with United he went to many different parts of the world and loved his job.

When he retired from United, he still had the travel bug in him and decided to drive a bus in the Denver and surrounding areas with RTD for a couple of years.

Upon finally "officially" retiring, Steve moved into Alta Vita Memory Care Center and entertained all of the residences and employees with his travel stories..

Services [were] held at the Air Force Academy [on] May 12, 2015 at 1pm, and there [was] an informal gathering afterword at the Sundance Mountain Lodge located at 1865 Woodmoor Drive in Monument, Colorado.

Please, in lieu of flowers, send small donations to Alta Vita Memory Care Center in Longmont where Steve spent his final two years of life. To Plant Memorial Trees in memory, please visit our Sympathy Store.
