Ray passed away at his home on Monday, April 28, 2008. Ray was born January 1, 1938 in Pensacola, FL and lived here most of his life. Ray was married to his wife, Sara for 50 years. He was a devoted husband, father and Papa.
Ray was preceded in death by his son Ray M. Barnes, Jr. and two sisters Patricia Alsup and Sue Livingston.
He is survived by his wife, Sara; children, Renee Smith and Robert (Karen) Barnes; grandchildren: Stephanie Barnes "Papa's Angel", Stanley Smith, Danada (Jeremy) Patterson, Adam Barnes, and Wesley Miller; great-grandchildren, Jacey and Jalyn Patterson; brothers, David (Becky) Barnes and Jon (Regina) Barnes; and sister, Leahmanda (Marty) Barnes/Malkin; numerous nieces and nephews; and many cherished friends.
A graveside [was] held on Monday, May 5, 2008 at 12:00 noon in Pensacola Memorial Gardens. The family [received] friends at the funeral home beginning at 11:00 A.M. the day of the service.
The family request contributions be made to Covenant Hospice or MADD if they choose.
