On 20 Sept. 1974 Major Samuel E. Waters, Jr., Class of 1960, was declared KIA after having been listed as MIA since 13 December 1966. He was reported MIA after ejection during an operation mission over North Vietnam in which his F-105 aircraft was struck by hostile fire.

At the Academy major Waters was on the boxing team and a member of the Dance Committee.

Following graduation, Major Waters attended pilot training at Moore AFB, Texas and Reese AFB, Texas. He was subsequently assigned to Luke AFB, Arizona and England AFB, La. In 1964 he was transferred to Southeast Asia.

Major Waters is survived by his wife, Mary, their son Robert and daughter Samantha of 441 Locust, Laguna Beach, CA 92651; and by his mother, Mrs. Martha V. Waters.
